A Dangerous Method

DAVID CRONENBERG (Regisseur): “Freud is synonymous with Vienna and for us to shoot this movie and have scenes taking place in Vienna for three days is for us absolute gold. It is fantastic to feel the real history of Vienna. To get the feel of an era you need locations like Cafe Sperl. You cannot beat a real location, we’re out in the streets, at The Sigmund Freud Museum and the Belvedere, it’s incredible, we feel like we’re in the early 1900s here.”

JEREMY THOMAS (Produzent, Großbritannien, Recorded Picture Company): ”I am delighted to have had the opportunity to film in this remarkable city again after so many years. I found myself recalling the wonderful experience I had filming Bad Timing here with Nicolas Roeg (...) In the few days we have been here I have been charmed by Vienna all over again, particularly by the warm reception and support we have received from the people of the city.”

MARCO MEHLITZ (Ko-Produzent, Deutschland, Lago Film): “Shooting in Vienna gave the film a new dimension as we were able to shoot the only locations in this film that are the ‘real’ locations in regards to the original story. With the help of Super Film, John Lüftner, this became a very nice transition for us from the studio shoot in Cologne. We were welcomed in Vienna and had a great local support team that enabled us to get everything that we could wish for. Thanks to the City and the people in Vienna for making it so comfortable to us to shoot the essential scenes without any problems.”
